WHEREAS the Twin Falls County Republican Central Committee currently meets on the second Wednesday of almost every month.
WHEREAS the Republican Party Platform of Idaho states “WE ARE REPUBLICANS BECAUSE: We believe the strength of our nation lies with our faith and reliance on God our Creator, the individual, and the family; and that each person's dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
WHEREAS many Twin Falls County Citizens attend Church, Prayer meetings, youth groups and youth sporting events on Wednesday nights.

Sarcasm is and always will be a flawed manner to communicate. True, Steve does use a lot of sarcasm, but on this show in particular, there was no apparent sarcasm. I disagree with your interpretation. I think that Simpson and the others allowed threats and doomsday stories to influence their decision to vote for TARP, and now they are back-peddling. But then again, Simpson votes for so much spending and nonsense I don't think he much thinks anymore at all!

In order to collect taxes on internet and out of state purchases, online retailers must have a physical nexus in the state. However, Smith's Bill attempts to unconstitutionally establish a “nexus” through third-party advertising in the state. States such as Rhode Island and North Carolina, which passed similar legislation, found that the tax hurt small ad businesses and did not generate revenue for the state. Instead, once the legislation was enacted, retailers simply terminated contracts with advertisers in these states to avoid creating a “nexus” and collecting the unconstitutional tax. As a result, advertising businesses incurred lower – if any – profits and the states thereby collected less in overall business taxes.

Not only is the tax harmful to businesses, the state of Idaho could face a burdensome lawsuit if the legislation is not vetoed. These and other concerns were never raised by the Mr. Smith.

Because our country was founded on the Constitution, not the Bible! How hard is that to understand? I believe the Bible to be the word of God, but those folks didn't always do so well when it came to running their countries. We can learn many things from a study of the Bible, but when we have questions about how things aught to go here in the USofA, we need to look to the Constitution and we need to do it more often.
Why is that a peculiarity of the west? I really don't know. Perhaps it is because we were settled by the most 'hawkish' pioneers and in our stubborn way, we are still refusing to give up that fierce independence that was needed to settle the west. We certainly do love our freedom!

Recently on "Top Story" Jill Skeem was saying that this new conservative movement does not deem current Republicans conservative enough. That is one way to put it, though I think more accurately would be to say that we do not agree with the Keynesian economic model of fiscal expansion, that is, we don't agree that government spending or bail-outs will help save the economy. Rather, as classical economist and thus classical conservatives would suggest, trim government and let the market correct itself. But since these "Republicans" have a long history now of government intervention in the market place, they try and protect those erroneous votes with more government expansion.
It is not necessarily a one-dimensional, left-right issue. It is rather an up-down issue; meaning it is about a free market, freedom and individual rights over federal control. This, all Americans should agree on, should they just wake up to the growth of an Unconstitutional Federal Government.

Reformation of the local GOP Party. We need to go back to the days of when Idaho Republicans, expected all individuals in government at all levels, including elected officials, to conduct themselves within the highest and strictest standards of personal conduct in carrying out their duties.

The people of Idaho demand leaders who will uphold their oath of office and the Constitution and are accountable to the people who elect them. The county party needs to communicate to the party at large information regarding adherence by Republican legislators to the state party platform and resolutions adopted at our county and state conventions and party meetings.
